Perambulations:

a community building project in celebration with the land of Fort Blauwkapel, Utrecht

'Perambulations' was a community-led production based in Utrecht interweaving the acts of research and performance, with the aim of writing our language back into the land as an embodied practice and in celebration for the earth.

The project was focused on a group of local participants who researched the environment of Overvecht through artist-led workshops in deep listening, expanded cartography, movement and field recording. The outcome of their research was presented in SoundWalk, a meditative audio experience which was accessible for the public of Utrecht over the summer of 2024.

‘Perambulations’ was born from a desire to entangle everything that pretends to be separate - emotions-environment, body-ecology, research-performance, artist-audience. A radical rewriting of what an artwork can be, empowering local citizens to step into creative agency and ultimately celebrating the natural environment as it longs to be celebrated. Weaving our bodies and emotions with her, learning to listen to her heartbeat, learning to let go of our perceived notions of what 'human' means. Our human language has the potential to reawaken the land and our embodied selves. Our words have the power to weave spells to re-enchant all those who have been disillusioned. We as a collective are able to offer our reverence and imagination for the land, for this earth we stand and live and die upon. For our home. For everything yet to come.
